Daar sta je dan langs de kant van de weg: panne. Lekke band, derailleur kapot, ketting gebroken: wat het ook is, pech tijdens je rit is nooit leuk. Maar een hoop problemen kun je gewoon onderweg oplossen. Als je de juiste spullen bij je hebt. Of het vergeetachtigheid is of ijdelheid, geen idee, maar je moet de wielrenners de kost geven die bij materiaalpech geen spulletjes bij zich hebben om het probleem te verhelpen. Vaak is dat geen probleem, want er komt vast wel een behulpzame collega voorbij aan wie je hulp kunt vragen. Maar soms lukt dat niet en ben je op jezelf aangewezen. Als je deze spullen bij je hebt kun je op zijn minst een lekke band verhelpen. Het klinkt logisch en dat is het ook: een nieuwe binnenband om je oude lekke exemplaar te vervangen. Maar soms gaat het fout. Dan heb je de verkeerde bij je. Er zijn twee soorten pompen in de markt: een handpomp of een drukpomp. Beide hebben voor- en nadelen. De handpomp geeft altijd lucht, maar het duurt langer voor je band vol is. De drukpomp haalt lucht uit een Co2-patroon of een kleine compressor en zet je band snel op druk. De Co2-pomp past vaak ook nog eens in je zadeltas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sommige handpompen schroef je vast op het ventiel. Als je ze losdraait gaat soms het ventiel mee, waardoor de lucht weer ontsnapt. Met dit ventielmoertje draai je het ventiel vast genoeg om dat te voorkomen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Rijd je met hoge velgen? Steek dan een ventielverlenger bij je. Mocht je een tweede lekke band hebben en er eentje lenen die te kort is, kun je de verlenger erop schroeven.
