\nDe aluminium\u00a0Zoombike\u00a0die Richard\u00a0Sapper<\/a> ontwierp midden jaren negentig heeft dezelfde geometrie als een gewone fiets. \u00a0De vouwfiets is \u00a0gemakkelijk inklapbaar als een paraplu. Dit alles door een drukknop.\u00a0Dit biedt optimaal gemak voor stadsvervoer, in een metro, tram of bus, in de kofferbak van een auto of in andere besloten ruimtes zoals liften is. Het kan in elke kast worden opgeborgen en kan zelfs aan een kapstok in een klein appartement worden gehangen. De fiets heeft drie versnellingen en is gemaakt van aluminium en weegt slechts 10 kilogram. Een nog lichtere magnesiumversie is ook in ontwikkeling. De schijfwielen maken een zeer lage luchtweerstand mogelijk, wat resulteert in een uitstekende mechanische effici\u00ebntie, terwijl de overbrengingsverhoudingen identiek zijn aan die van een normale racefiets, ondanks de kleinere diameter van de wielen. Om dergelijke kenmerken te bereiken, is het ontwerp gebaseerd op vliegtuigtechnologie in plaats van traditionele fietsmechanica.

Sappers producten zijn nauwkeurig, functioneel, innovatief en zeer complex. Een van zijn voornaamste zorgen is \u201cbetekenis aan vorm te geven\u201d, een doel dat hij vaak met overweldigend succes bereikt. Volgens Ettore Sottsass heeft Sapper nooit een slecht ontwerp geproduceerd.
