Paris Roubaix Challenge 2016

Last saturday, team Artivelo appeared at the start of the 2016 Paris Roubaix challenge.

We departed the Hilversum Media Park friday morning towards Roubaix. The racing bikes have been replaced by crossbikes with double handlebar-tapes and 28mm tires. The only thing remaining was that we needed to pick up the starting tickets at Roubaix’ Velodrome.
Since the start was located in Busigny, we drove straight to Saint Quentin where we spend the night. We did a quick bike check before dinner and had a early night.

Saturday morning we were at the start of the 170 km in the “Hell of the North“. The only Tour where you can take the full Paris Roubaix course including 52,5 km of cobbles like Wallers-Arenberg forrest, Mons-en-Pévèle and Carrefour de l’Arbre.

For some of us it was the third time. The 27 cobble sections slowly take their toll bit after 5 hours and 40 minutes we arrived at the Velodrome. The clock shows an average of 30 kph and we all gained a new experience. Anekdotes are shared under the legendary Velodrome showers as an end to a beautifull day.
